My Story

Hello! My name is Sofia (she/hers) and I am a Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor and Trainer. My journey in the therapeutic world began in 2010 in London, when I started volunteering at a charity that works with children and young adults with additional needs and disabilities, such as autism, ADHD, down syndrome etc. This immensely fulfilling role led me to further studies and to a second career in Counselling and Psychotherapy, that I am very passionate about.

My initial training was in Art Psychotherapy and it gave me the ability to use tools such as Drawing, Music, Sandtray and other in my work, if that is something you would be interest to experiment with (you do not have to be an ‘artist’!). Furthermore, during the pandemic I undertook extensive training in Online Therapy, and the skills gained allowed me to have a more inclusive practice, as I can now work with people that due to disabilities or other circumstances might not have access to face to face Therapy. Currently I am further expanding my knowledge on trauma and somatic therapy, as this is an area of great interest to me.

After years of practicing as a Psychotherapist, I have now fully embraced a pluralistic and holistic approach to therapy. This means that I draw on a range of therapeutic thinking and models (Humanistic, Psychodynamic, CBT, Neuroscience etc) in order to accommodate the individual needs of the person I work with.  It also means that the focus of the work is not just on feelings and thoughts, but also the body/somatic side, with a special attention to the uniqueness of each person and their circumstances.

And the journey continues!
