My story

My name is Sophia, I am a qualified Counsellor and a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist pending dissertation. My approach is Integrative which means that I draw on a range of therapeutic thinking and models such as Humanistic, Gestalt, Transpersonal, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and other. Also, my foundation was on Art Psychotherapy which gave me the ability to use tools such as Sandtray, Clay, Painting, Drawing, Music and other in my work, if that is something you would be interest to experiment with.

Part of my training has been Child and Adolescent orientated and it gave me the additional skills needed to work with children, adolescent and young adults.  I have been taught for example how to therapeutically meet a client that does not have yet the vocabulary or the verbal communication ability of an adult, and how to be open to other ways of communication such as play. And I feel that the skills gained from the child and adolescent training gave more depth to my adult client work.

My style is open and respectful, and I hold a space for my clients where they are heard and where they may explore any issues they bring, at a pace that is comfortable for them. I am happy to work with you in English or in Greek.

Since qualifying as a Counsellor, I have worked with children, teenagers, parents, teachers and adults and I have experience working with various issues such as anxiety, depression, bullying, self-harm, domestic violence trauma and other.
I am also volunteering as much as possible in local organisations.
